[36] ἔμελλον: so Ar. for “ἔμελλε”. He preferred the plural wherever the choice was possible, relying on passages such as 2.135, 7.6, 102, and others, where the verb cannot be in the singular. As the tendency of corruption would be towards the more familiar idiom, he is no doubt right.
