[752] πέρνασκε, cf. note on 21.40. The connexion of thought is rather disjointed, as is natural in an expression of violent grief; but the idea plainly is, ‘though Achilles’ treatment of thee has been so far more harsh than of my other sons, cruel as he was to them; yet it has ended only to thine honour.’ νῦν δέ μοι (757) thus forms the antithesis to all that precedes; the freshness of the body is a mark of divine favour.
