[448] “ἐλελίχθη,1.530. Here it seems to belong to “ἐλελίζω”, quivered. κερκίς is generally explained as the weaver's rod by which the threads of the woof were driven home (Lat. pecten); others take it to mean shuttle, and so Eur. Tro. 198οὐχ ἱστοῖς κερκίδα δινεύουσ᾽ ἐξαλλάξω”. The word recurs in H. only 5.62χρυσείηι κερκίδ᾽ ὕφαινεν”. See note on 23.760.
