[356] κάπετος recurs in 18.564 of the ditch round a vineyard, 24.797 of a grave. Perhaps its use here as applied to the moat is somewhat contemptuous, ‘ditch’ rather than ‘fosse.’ For ποσσίν Zen. read “χερσίν”, to which Ar. objected as less consistent with the dignity of a god.
